Samy Basta, CPA, is the founder of Basta & Company, a San Francisco-based fractional CFO and tax strategy firm serving construction, architecture, interior design, and trade businesses — including landscapers, electricians, and plumbers — across the Bay Area and California. A licensed California CPA with over 25 years in the industry, Samy founded the firm in 2011 to give business owners the same financial clarity larger companies get from a full-time CFO, without the full-time cost.
His work centers on the moments where the numbers get complicated: uncovering R&D tax credits clients didn’t know they qualified for, untangling multi-state payroll compliance, and helping owners see cash flow problems before they become crises. He works primarily with businesses generating $500K–$10M in revenue. He speaks regularly on tax strategy, fractional CFO support, payroll cost structures, and financial decision-making for owners scaling beyond basic bookkeeping.
